Sites

What is a Site
We use site as an umbrella term that's flexible and can be customized to customer needs. A site contains locations. One possible usage is defining a building as site and the rooms in it as locations. Another possibility for a site would be all the installations of an electric company in a village. The locations in this case could be the various transformer stations in the village.

Departments
Each site can contain installations or rooms for different departments. For example a department is responsible for the infrastructure, another for the electrical installation and a third for the building maintenance.

A Location
Each location is assigned to a department. If there installations for two departments in the same location, the location is added twice. The advantage of this concept is that we can assign rights on the level of the department and therefore the location.
This allows e.g. that someone could see what the other department has installed but not change it.

Unit Details
Units/Installations
In each location we have an installed base, called units, of a department. Which parts a unit contains can be parameterized.

Addresses
It's possible to assign various addresses with a role to a site. This could be default orderer or default invoice address. CATTOR supports mail merge with MS Office for these addresses. Sent letters will be stored

Attachments
It's possible to add attachments on each of the tiers described above. This can be site layouts, route descriptions, etc

Basic Data
In the basic data we have a serial number and a description of the unit. Further information stored is commissioning date, warranty ends and state of the unit (active, etc). In addition the date from the last service is shown as well (determined from the orders)

Coding
By defining a code schema it's possible to model a hierarchy on the level of units by defining families, products, etc. A sample is given in the blog entry CATTOR Feature - Komponenten (Units where called components before).

Articles
On a unit it's possible to define up to 20 articles. Details are given in the same blog entry as for coding (CATTOR Feature - Komponenten).

Additional Columns
For a family up to 50 additional columns can be defined. The layout and the type of the additional columns can be defined. In addition it's possible to create simple calculation operations with these columns.

Contracts
When a unit is under a valid contract, details about this contract are shown.

Activities
Like everywhere else in CATTOR activities can be added to units. These activities can be documents of a unit or protocols from maintenance services.
